Peter Benjamin’s extensive experience in retail spans more than three decades, including 33 years at The TJX Companies, Inc., where he has held senior merchandising and executive-level positions.  

Peter is President of Marmaxx, a division of the combined TJ Maxx and Marshalls businesses. Marmaxx is the largest off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions in the U.S., and part of The TJX Companies, Inc. With more than $49 billion in revenue and approximately 329,000 Associates worldwide at the end of 2022, TJX operates more than 4,800 stores in nine countries on three continents, as well as six e-commerce sites. TJX is ranked as a Fortune 100 company. In addition to TJ Maxx and Marshalls, the company’s retail chains include HomeGoods, Homesense, Sierra, Winners and T.K. Maxx.

Prior to assuming his current role in 2023, Peter held the position of EVP Chief Merchandising Officer of Marmaxx for six years. From 2004 to 2016, he served in executive and leadership roles in Marmaxx, including EVP, Chief Operating Officer, and SVP of Planning and Allocation. From 2002 to 2004, he worked with the Marshalls brand as VP of Planning and Allocation. Peter served as Merchandise Manager with Marmaxx from 1996 to 2002, following several planning and merchandising positions with Marshalls. He began his career with Marshalls in 1990.

Before joining Marshalls, Peter completed Filene’s Executive Training Program and worked as a Buyer for the retailer.

Peter graduated from Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He joined the Save the Children Board in 2024 and is a member of the Audit & Risk Committee. He lives in Boston with his wife.
