A Promise to Prepare

Take Action On This Issue

When disaster strikes, children are the most vulnerable. Without the physical, emotional and mental capabilities of adults, kids rely on their caregivers to cope with crisis.

But as a nation, we are underprepared. Disaster can strike anywhere at any time including the workweek during which 68 million children are separated from their families at school or child care. Still many states lack basic standards for safeguarding kids in these facilities. After Hurricane Katrina, it took six months to reunite the last child with her family. We can’t let that happen again.

There are steps we can take to prepare our families and communities for disaster and protect our children when they need it most. Please sign our pledge to help keep kids safe and secure the future we share. Your action today may save lives tomorrow.
