Why Donate Bitcoin, Ethereum, NFTs and other Cryptocurrencies to Charity?
For over 100 years Save the Children’s mission has been based on the simple principle that all children have the right to be healthy, educated and protected. Among those are children living in dangerous conflict zones such as Gaza and fleeing violence in places like Ukraine. Save the Children also provides relief to families fighting the double impacts of a worsening global hunger crisis and climate shocks in places like Somalia and Afghanistan.
Your cryptocurrency donations support our mission to keep children healthy, educated, and safe every day and in times of crisis. Our Children’s Emergency Fund focuses on those who need your help most.
If you would like to support a specific country or humanitarian response for the holidays, please include this in the "Donation notes” field and we will do our best to honor your wishes.

Is my cryptocurrency charitable donation tax deductible?
Yes, your cryptocurrency donation can be tax-deductible*. Save the Children offers supporters who want to donate cryptocurrency to charity the ability to donate in a tax-efficient way.
In the U.S. and several other countries, donating non-cash assets like crypto and stock to qualified charities has significant tax benefits. Donated crypto and stocks generally aren’t subject to capital gains tax, which can be as high as 20%, according to The Giving Block.
According to Fidelity, "when you donate cryptocurrency directly to charity, you can potentially eliminate capital gains tax liability on the contributed asset. The donor also generally has the secondary benefit of a tax deduction for the fair market value of the asset."
For example, for donors in the United States, the IRS has classified bitcoin as property for tax purposes. This means that when you donate bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit such as Save the Children, you don't have to pay capital gains tax on that transaction, and you will receive a tax receipt if you provide your email address.
*Depends on your country's tax laws. Please consult a qualified tax advisor.
Can I donate anonymously?
Yes, you can donate anonymously. However, you will not receive a tax receipt unless you provide your email address.
