Unfortunately at this time, all sponsor visits are paused due to the coronavirus pandemic. Once we can fully ensure the safety and health of our sponsored children and staff, we will resume sponsor visits per our regular policy. We will be sure to let you know via email and text message when sponsor visits can resume. You can sign up for these important updates at savethechildren.org/signup.

Visit Your Sponsored Child

A Journey to Touch Your Heart

For many sponsors, one of the best parts of sponsorship is having the chance to visit your sponsored child. An opportunity to meet face to face, interact in person and create an even closer personal connection with your sponsored child and their community.

Your once-in-a-lifetime visit will also give you the opportunity to see your sponsorship donations at work! You will be able to visit sponsorship programs in your child's community to see how your support is changing the lives of more than just your sponsored child. You will also have the chance to interact with local Save the Children staff, whose dedication to children is inspiring.

Are you a Lifeline sponsor or sponsoring our programs in a country? Don’t worry – you can still visit our sponsorship programs to see the impact your support is making, you just won’t meet with a particular child.

Please note: We currently only allow visits to sponsored children and programs outside of the United States.

“I will never forget getting to meet my sponsored child in person. Being able to see the community that he is living in and meet his family was so special and it taught me a lot about what it is like to grow up in this rural environment and see some of the challenges that the community faces. I am very proud to be a sponsor for such a wonderful organization.” –Heidi, who sponsors Jay in Nepal.

Getting Started

The first step in planning your visit is to download and complete the application and two release forms found here and mail them back to us.

IMPORTANT: If more than one person is traveling, please complete the above forms for each traveler. The Visit Application, as well as the Child Safeguarding Policy Acknowledgement Form and Essential Information Form, are required for every traveler, regardless of age.

Application forms must be received at least 60 days prior to your planned arrival date. Once the forms are received, a background check will be initiated on your behalf. Each person 18 or over will receive an email with links and instructions.

Making Your Visit Arrangements

On receipt of all completed, signed forms and the conclusion of the background check for each traveler 18 or over, the Country Office will confirm the dates of your program visit and work with you on the details.  Country Offices may limit dates to host visits due to political, environmental, holiday, or other country-specific concerns. Please note that the Country Office cannot make travel or tour arrangements for you beyond those needed for the visit to Save the Children's programs. We appreciate your understanding.

Our Child Safety Policy

To uphold our Child Safety Policy and avoid placing sponsored children in harm's way, we conduct a background check for all visitors. For Child Safety purposes, sponsor visits are only hosted in public spaces in our Country Offices.

Other Things You Should Know

The Country Office may incur expenses (staff time, meals, local transport, etc.) to accommodate your visit to the program sites. A suggested donation of $300 will help offset the expenses incurred in planning a fulfilling visit for you. If possible, we ask that you send that tax-deductible donation along with your signed documents.

We recommend you consult the Centers for Disease Control and the U.S. Department of State prior to your visit to your sponsored child or program to obtain appropriate health and safety advisories.
