Melanie Deepens Her Support Through a Gift in Her Will

I'm a lifelong actor and writer, and more recently, author (Odd Woman Out) and wife. As a single career person in my late thirties, I knew I would never be a mother in the conventional sense of giving birth, yet I yearned to be a positive influence and loving force for children.

While visiting my parents one summer, I heard about Save the Children's nearby headquarters and how committed the organization was to empowering kids and their communities all over the world.

When I was cast as the animated mother and grandmother in the Rugrats TV series and films, I doubled my monthly donations and put Save the Children in my will. And it has remained there through my late-in-life marriage and stepmotherhood. I know Save the Children continues to empower kids wherever in the world they might be in ways I simply couldn’t on my own. It’s reassuring to know that the safety, health and education of children who will soon run our world will be a mission for Save the Children both while we donors are alive and after we’re gone, too.
