Humble, Generous Man Creates a Life-Saving Legacy
When the concept of "investment" is raised, most minds turn to financial figures. For Gene, the word had a much richer meaning, reflecting his generous approach to planned giving.
Not only did Gene make wise financial decisions, but he also invested in others through a life of forgiveness, humility and kindness. This combination has created a legacy of improving the lives of his loved ones at home and children around the world through an estate gift to Save the Children. "We are all very proud of Uncle Gene's generosity toward Save the Children," said his nephew, Dave, and niece, Sue. "Gene was always a fantastic uncle to us. He was always a lot of fun to be around."
Gene was a medical professional for decades. He passed away in 2023 at the age of 96. Despite his financial success, he lived a frugal life, a testament to his values and priorities. Gene enjoyed international traveling and always had a special place in his heart for kids who faced poverty through no fault of their own. He was particularly dedicated to ensuring quality health care in parts of the world with limited resources.
His careful research convinced Gene to help those children through an estate gift to Save the Children because, Dave said, "...he could be confident that his lifelong savings would be appropriately spent."
"Gene had a generous heart and a savvy financial mind. He saw his gift to Save the Children as a tax-efficient way to help others. A planned gift to Save the Children is an excellent way to leave a lasting legacy to future generations. It's also a great way to ensure that the fruits of your life's work go directly to a worthwhile cause: the health, safety and welfare of kids around the world."
