Tara Chettry

Country Director, Save the Children Nepal

Tara Chettry is the Country Director at Save the Children in Nepal. Tara brings more than 20 years of experience, including as Deputy Country Director at Save the Children Nepal and Bhutan CO, overseeing comprehensive operations, humanitarian management, and strategic engagement with government.

Tara's journey with Save the Children began in 2000 when she led HIV programming initiatives and governance-informed research and audits. With a profound understanding of public health and social development, particularly in HIV, TB, and Malaria programming, she served as Senior Chief of Party (CoP) for Global Fund Grants in Nepal and regional multi-country grant management.

After devastating floods struck Nepal in August 2026, Tara led Save the Children’s response, which included distributing items such as tents, hygiene kits, blankets, mosquito nets, water purifiers and dignity kits, which include essential hygiene items, to thousands of families.
