Ria

Ria*, 16, watched as her sister got married when she was just a child. Child marriage was the expectation for her. Against much peer pressure and traditional expectations, Ria remained resilient. She has become a voice against child marriage and started her village's first-ever girls cricket team.

"When we're playing cricket, we can hit the ball away with our bat. Similarly, we can hit away child marriage."

Abdulaye

Abdulaye*, 12, lives in a farming village that has been devastated by floods. It has forced him to leave school and help his parents get food for the family.

"I am scared. [The flood] comes at any time. Sometimes it comes heavily. Sometimes it comes quietly. The water is pushing us. We are drifting away."

Abdulaye dreams of a safe neighborhood – resilience against floods and disasters.

Sami

Sami*, 12, has been running from violence his entire life. Conflict has stripped him of a stable education, playing with his friends and growing up happy.

Sami wants to continue his studies to become a surgeon who can help others.
