Corporate Partners
Save the Children cultivates strategic partnerships and innovative collaboration with corporations that share our vision of a better world for children. These efforts enable us to multiply our resources and the impact of our work for the benefit of children in the U.S. and around the globe. Save the Children values long-term alliances with the private sector and we partner with many of the world’s top corporations on mutually beneficial, strategic initiatives. Save the Children’s interactions with the corporate sector range from designing multi-stakeholder partnerships to address specific problems confronting children, to galvanizing support for Save the Children’s programs, to leveraging the assets of the private sector to advance the cause of children worldwide. Our partnerships with the corporate sector are largely in the form of philanthropic grants and cause-related marketing campaigns for specific projects that are designed to meet the private sector partner’s philanthropic and marketing needs and to improve Save the Children’s resource capacity to address the pressing needs of children. Corporations provide Save the Children with financial support, marketing and communications assets, volunteer expertise, technical knowledge, and donated goods and services. Save the Children has a robust and vigorous partnership assessment procedure and policies to ensure we partner with companies committed to social responsibility and the values and goals of our organization. No matter the partner or the form of partnership, the needs of children — whether it’s clean water, access to health care and education or relief after an emergency or natural disaster — are the number one priority. We team with industry leaders around the world, many of whom intend to make this partnership a long-term investment. These are just a sampling of the wonderful partnerships that have helped Save the Children bring a better life to children in need in the United States and around the world. We thank these partners for their generosity and support to make a positive difference in the life of a child. Company Name$1,000,000 and Above

$5 million and UpBulgariIn celebration of its 125th anniversary in 2009, Bulgari partnered with Save the Children to raise more than $8 million for Save the Children’s Rewrite the Future campaign. This essential funding was provided through the sale of a specially designed Save the Children ring and pendant as well as an auction of one-of-a-kind Bulgari jewels and limited edition timepieces. Bulgari continues to support education — including teacher training and an art education and therapy program — in 2011 with a commitment more than $7 million in additional funds through the sale of a specially-designed silver and ceramic ring. For each ring sold, Bulgari will donate $75 to Save the Children. Visit the Bulgari website Cisco SystemsCisco Systems has helped Save the Children improve the way we enact our mission through professional services, in-kind gifts and financial support. This year, Cisco employees held a special event to raise funds for Save the Children’s education programs. Additionally, the Cisco Fellows program provided Save the Children and other nonprofits with high-level technical and management support; employee giving and corporate matching gifts; special events, including the Cisco worldwide soccer tournament; and support for our U.S. Programs, which provided contributions, a Cisco Fellow and equipment to support web-based literacy programs. Their mentoring and encouragement were also key to the development of NetHope, a catalyst for collaboration in the international NGO community that enables the best use of technology for modern communication in the developing world. Visit the Cisco Systems website ExxonMobilSince 2006, the ExxonMobil Foundation, through its global community initiative has contributed more than $2.2 million toward building community schools and $1 million toward the integration of adolescent girls into informal education and vocational training in Angola and Egypt. These are just some of the initiatives that form part of ExxonMobil’s worldwide community investments. In addition, after the tsunami in 2004, ExxonMobil employees, retirees, surviving spouses, dealers and distributors contributed $3.5 million for the construction of two village midwife clinics, two village health centers and 10 schools in Aceh, Indonesia. Visit the ExxonMobil website IKEAIKEA has worked with Save the Children for over a decade. Save the Children was instrumental in the development of IKEA’s policy against child labor, ‘The IKEA Way on Preventing Child Labour Code of Conduct’ launched in 2000. The policy is based on national law, relevant International Labour Organization conventions, and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the IKEA code clearly states that all actions must always be in the best interests of the child. Since 2005, IKEA has funded a multitude of Save the Children educational efforts across Central and Eastern Europe, Asia, and Africa through the annual soft toys campaign where the IKEA Foundation donates one euro for each soft toy sold in an IKEA store during the holiday season. Since 2009, we have also worked together to address the root causes of child labor in the cotton seed and cotton production in India and Pakistan. IKEA also supports Save the Children’s Early Steps to School Success program in the United States which provides poor, rural families with home and school-based services for children from birth to age five. Visit the IKEA website Kraft FoodsThe Kraft Foods Foundation is partnering with Save the Children on a three-year ‘Ready. Steady, Go’ healthy lifestyles program in Italy. Our three-year goal is to reach over 65,000 children, families and educators in 10 cities with nutrition education and improved access to physical activities through 2013. The project will focus on the restoration of both indoor and outdoor spaces and structures in areas with high social risk. The program will provide specialized education and training activities in order to promote sport, activity and nutritional education amongst children and adolescents. In Asia, Kraft Foods Foundation is also partnering with Save the Children to help Filipino and Indonesian families suffering from malnutrition. Since 2009, this three-year, $3 million commitment is supporting community-based meal distribution and nutrition education programs, which are reaching more than 180,000 children and families in regions where malnutrition has become even more acute with the global hunger crisis. Kraft Foods and its Foundation have also funded programs in Latin America. In Mexico, they generously contributed to a healthy lifestyles program, Alimentarnos Para Vivir Mejor, through 2009. Between 2004 and 2008, Kraft Foods funded programs in El Salvador and Guatemala to develop self-sustaining community-based childhood education and development programs. Kraft Foods and its Foundation have provided significant resources to assist children and families affected by emergencies worldwide. In recent years, they have provided support for emergency response for natural disasters in the Philippines, for the cyclone in Bangladesh, hurricanes in Nicaragua & Honduras, wildfires in California, and famine in Ethiopia to assist children and their families on the road to recovery. Visit the Kraft Foods web site. MattelSince partnering with Save the Children in 2004, the Mattel Foundation and Mattel, Inc. have contributed more than $5 million to Save the Children’s programs around the world. The Mattel Children's Foundation has supported Save the Children’s basic education and early childhood development programs as well as newborn and child survival campaign. To mark the 30th anniversary of the Mattel Children’s Foundation in 2008, more than 700 Mattel employees sponsored 254 children worldwide through Save the Children. In addition, Mattel has also generously provided toys and games to children in Save the Children programs across the globe. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of UNO in 2011, Mattel’s selected Save the Children as its charity partner. Mattel has been a steadfast partner during times of disaster, having contributed to Save the Children’s response to the tsunami of 2004 in Indonesia, the 2008 cyclone in Myanmar, the 2008 earthquake in China and the 2008 flooding in Bihar, India, and the earthquakes in Haiti and in Chile in 2010. In early 2011 Mattel became Save the Children’s first Corporate Partner for Children in Emergency though a pledge of $500,000 to support the agency’s disaster risk reduction activities, pre-position relief supplies, build response capacity through training and innovative uses of technology, and support emergency response in the U.S. and around the world. Visit the Mattel web site MicrosoftIn order to support our offices in countries around the world, keeping staff outfitted with the necessary hardware and software is critical to the work of Save the Children. We are able to meet this need thanks in part to a very generous $4.5 million grant awarded by Microsoft for desktop and server upgrades in 2002. This grant is part of a Microsoft Community Affairs pilot program that encourages nonprofit organizations to use innovative technology solutions to improve their efficiency and effectiveness. In 2005, as part of a $41 million grant from Microsoft led by NetHope, an online coalition of 23 international nonprofits, Save the Children received an in-kind software donation support for two years. Microsoft continues to collaborate with Save the Children in many areas, especially where its technology can improve the lives of the world’s most disadvantaged children. Most recently Microsoft supported Save the Children's emergency response efforts in Haiti. Visit the Microsoft website PepsiCo FoundationThe PepsiCo Foundation is generously providing a three-year, $5 million grant to Save the Children to help ensure the survival and well-being of children living in rural India and Bangladesh. These two countries alone are home to 40 percent of the world’s malnourished children. With support from the PepsiCo Foundation, Save the Children - alongside its local and national partners - is working to decrease child mortality and malnutrition in both locations. The combined global resources of the PepsiCo Foundation and Save the Children are making a profound difference in the lives of 600,000 children under the age five, as well as mothers and pregnant or lactating women. With our assistance, nearly 2,000 frontline health workers in India and Bangladesh are providing thousands of these countries’ poorest families with important information about health, nutrition, clean water, sanitation and simple hygiene practices. The PepsiCo Foundation’s support is also helping to develop an evidence base on the positive impact of community case management addressing children’s severe acute malnutrition in southern Bangladesh, an initiative in partnership with Tufts University. We plan to use the findings to urge the Government of Bangladesh to include this innovative strategy for treating malnourished children in its national guidelines. Additional Save the Children and PepsiCo Foundation initiatives are currently supporting child-focused emergency work in Japan, Pakistan and Haiti following extraordinary disasters in these countries, as well as our responses to a hunger emergency in West Africa. Further, the Frito-Lay Foundation in Latin America continues to support our nutrition education, school-based water and sanitation, and food security programming in Guatemala and Mexico. Since 1997, PepsiCo’s employees around the world have also provided funds to Save the Children through their employee matching gift programs. Visit the PepsiCo website Reckitt BenckiserReckitt Benckiser (RB), a world leader in home care and other medical products, is one of Save the Children’s most valuable global supporters. Working together since 2003, they have contributed more than $9.8 million to date, with $2.5 million in 2010, which includes contributions in the U.S. through 100 child sponsorships. Our partnership has been hugely successful, raising significant funding via the “Save 100,000 Lives” campaign 2006-2008, to provide simple, inexpensive lifesaving solutions – such as mosquito nets to prevent malaria, vaccinations, rehydration salts to treat children with diarrhea, training and education. The campaign initially aimed to reach 100,000 children across Angola and Tanzania, surpassing the original target by reaching 50,000 additional children. RB continues to fund this lifesaving work and has increased their commitment to include a third core program in India, The Child Domestic Workers project in West Bengal. This project supports the rescue and rehabilitation of children as young as four years old that, due to severe poverty, have been sold, trafficked or lured into an invisible life of abusive and hazardous domestic work. RB supports our emergency response work, with a minimum donation of $165,000 per year to the Children’s Emergency Fund (CEF), enabling us to respond to an emergency immediately without waiting for appeal funds. RB further supports our emergency response work with valuable gifts in kind, as well as additional cash financial donations for large emergencies. RB recently launched a multi-market campaign, Lysol Mission for Health, a global health and hygiene campaign in 30 plus markets to raise funds for the CEF. Reckitt Benckiser Pharmaceuticals (RBP) has also contributed to Save the Children’s efforts to secure more than 2,500 migrant children’s safety and right to education in India’s brick kiln industry in the region of West Bengal. The partnership has now launched the Million Brighter Futures campaign, aiming to reach $16.5 million. Visit the Reckitt Benckiser website Scholastic, Inc.Scholastic, Inc., the global children’s publishing, education and media company, has teamed with Save the Children to establish a long-term education recovery fund to benefit the children of Haiti. Impoverished women, whose community was badly damaged by the hurricane in 2009, will be given new opportunities to improve theirs and their families’ well-being through this new partnership between Walmart and Save the Children. The Walmart Foundation’s support will help 3,000 women over the next two years. The project will identify women who are recognized as community leaders and provide them with the economic, marketing and technical skills they need to start small businesses. The women will then serve as mentors and will help other women start their own income-generating activities. Save the Children anticipates that 10,800 women and their family members will directly benefit from the project. The Walmart-Save the Children partnership is one of six initiatives the Walmart Foundation is funding through its new Latin America Women’s Initiative, which seeks to empower women throughout Latin America.
