Mamarou’s Sacrifice, Arouna’s Dream
At only 14, Mamarou carries a burden no child should have to bear. When his father and older brother passed away, he had to drop out of school to help support his family. Now, every day, instead of learning to read and write, he trudges to the family cotton farm near his village in Mali. His younger brother Arouna, is just one year younger and while Mamarou goes to work, Arouna, goes to school where he dreams of becoming a teacher. Mamarou is proud of his brother, but already knows the two of them will now have very different lives.
These brothers’ lives don’t have to be so different. Sponsoring a child gives them the chance to grow up healthy, educated and safe – forever changing the course of their life and future. And you just might find that it changes you, too.
