Save the Children Mobilizing Emergency Response Team, Supplies to Help Mississippi Families in Wake of Deadly Tornadoes

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (March 25, 2023) — After deadly tornadoes swept through rural Mississippi overnight, knocking out power to thousands and leaving more than 100 miles of destruction in their wake, Save the Children is mobilizing emergency response staff and supplies to help children and families in areas hardest hit by the powerful storms.

In coordination with state and local partners, Save the Children staff are preparing to deliver essential, child-focused items to kids and families who need them most in western Mississippi – such as water, food, hygiene kits, diapers and more.

“Children are always among the most vulnerable when disaster strikes, and our thoughts and hearts go out to kids and families whose lives have been disrupted by these devastating tornadoes. Save the Children is gearing up with critical supplies to help meet their most urgent needs,” said Yolanda Minor, Save the Children’s Mississippi State Director.

As the national leader in protecting children in emergencies, Save the Children has been supporting children’s most critical needs in emergencies along the Gulf Coast since 2005. By contributing to the Children's Emergency Fund, you will help Save the Children protect kids in the United States when disaster strikes.
