Save the Children Statement on Pending U.S. Presidential Election Results

CEO: “In Uncertain Times, We Continue to Do Whatever it Takes for the World’s Children”

Fairfield, Conn. (November 5, 2020) – As states continue to count votes in the 2020 Election, Save the Children CEO Janti Soeripto issued the following statement:

For more than 100 years, Save the Children has worked tirelessly to ensure children have the futures they deserve in the United States and around the world. Together with Save the Children Action Network (SCAN), we’re closely watching and waiting for the full results and final outcome of the 2020 U.S. Presidential election.

In these uncertain times, there’s one thing that is certain: the challenges facing children have never been greater. From COVID to growing child hunger, education disruptions and unacceptable equity gaps, kids need us now more than ever here at home and abroad. Our collective ability to address these challenges rests first on the endurance of a stable and healthy American democracy.

We will continue to do whatever it takes for the world’s children, ensuring kids can grow up healthy, educated and safe.

Save the Children believes every child deserves a future. Since our founding more than 100 years ago, we’ve changed the lives of more than 1 billion children. In the United States and around the world, we give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. We do whatever it takes for children – every day and in times of crisis – transforming their lives and the future we share. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.
