About 300,000 [1] children risk missing out on education after UNICEF, Save the Children and partners were forced to close learning facilities in the Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, due to funding cuts, said Save the Children.

Children made up 44% of predominantly Rohingya refugees leaving Bangladesh and Myanmar by boat in 2024. About 460 people have taken to the sea so far in 2025 as the numbers continue to rise, Save the Children said. 
 

The conflict in Sudan has seen a major increase in intensity in recent weeks, with violence hitting a seven-month high in the country, with children on the frontline, said Save the Children. Violent incidents include airstrikes, artillery shelling, use of explosives and remote violence in multiple regions.
 

At least 21 children are among an estimated 270 people killed, and more than 1,000 injured in Israeli strikes on southern and eastern Lebanon on Monday, with all schools now closing and children terrified, said Save the Children. 

Nearly 500 unaccompanied and separated children have arrived in Blue Nile and Gedaref states in Sudan over six weeks as heavy fighting forces more people to flee for safety after 16 months of conflict, Save the Children said.

Thousands of Afghan refugees who have crossed into Afghanistan from Pakistan in recent weeks are experiencing alarming levels of serious illnesses that are escalating quickly, including life-threatening and highly contagious acute diarrhea, said Save the Children.

A Rohingya child and her mother have died in a mudslide in a refugee camp in southern Bangladesh after days of torrential monsoon rains that have affected more than half a million refugee children as well as the host community with two Bangladeshi children also losing their lives. 

Save the Children expresses deep concern and alarm over recent news reports that Texas state troopers have been separating families at the US-Mexico border under Operation Lone Star.

Save the Children strongly condemns the recently reported “inhumane” treatment of asylum seekers – including children and pregnant women – along the border in Texas.
