"Our cause this year is to end Ebola and help countries build back up."
Gamers Help End Ebola & Rebuild Children's Lives
Independent filmmakers "Athene" and "Reese" are the first gamers to visit an Ebola-affected country in order to raise awareness and funds among the gaming community. They recently returned from Liberia where they witnessed first-hand the devastating impact of Ebola on children. Their new documentary, "The End of Ebola", is about their trip and the people that had been affected and survived the disease. They conducted a Reddit AMA with a child survivor of Ebola.
Their goal is to raise at least $100,000 through their website — Gaming for Good — and help the 10.3 million children and adolescents under age 18 that are directly or indirectly affected by Ebola.
Athene visited Save the Children facilities in the Bong Province of Liberia. He visited an Ebola Treatment Unit (ETU) that was set-up to counteract the rapid onset of the worst Ebola outbreak in world history. He also visited a Community Care Center (CCC) that helps orphans of Ebola, and children who are facing the negative stigma of being Ebola survivors. Save the Children is on the ground providing critical help and health relief, working with health ministries in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea to help fight the Ebola outbreak.
If you want to give directly to Save the Children you can donate now to help Save the Children restore health infrastructure, care for orphans, train health workers and provide protective kits and essential medical equipment. Your donation will be matched dollar for dollar up to $50,000 by a generous donor.
