As part of their commitment to assist families, the makers of JOHNSON'S® Baby products alongside parent company Johnson & Johnson, are making a multi-year, multi-million dollar contribution to Save the Children® that will help create and sustain key initiatives. Last year, JOHNSON'S® Baby created JOHNSON'S® Baby CARES a charitable platform to speak to the companies good works including the partnership with Save the Children®.
In year two of the JOHNSON'S® Baby CARES charitable platform, JOHNSON'S® Baby is again partnering with Save the Children® and launching JOHNSON'S® Baby Care Cards. For every JOHNSON'S® Baby Care Card sent, shared or liked on Facebook at johnsonsbabycares.com, $1.00* will be donated to Save the Children® programs such as its Early Steps to School Success early childhood education initiative.
Save the Children's Early Steps to School Success provides early childhood development support to expectant moms, as well as infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Research shows that the investment in the early years can profoundly change the course of a child's development by the time he or she enters school. Without an early education, kids start out in school behind, struggle to catch up, and often as a result drop out in later years. Save the Children wants what every parent wants—for children to grow up healthy, educated and able to reach their full potential.
Children living in poverty are 18 months behind their peers by age four. That's, in part, because 60% of low-income households have no books in the home and children are not read to on a regular basis, if at all. What's more, children growing up in impoverished communities don't have access to high-quality early childhood education services. Early childhood education is one of the most effective ways for children in need to break out of the cycle of poverty. But in California, for example, 38% of children do not get enrolled in nursery school, preschool or kindergarten. Like most parents, struggling families want what's best for their children. But they lack the basic tools and resources to ensure a brighter future for their little ones.
Our early childhood education program provides moms in America with the skills and knowledge they need to successfully support their child's growth from pregnancy until school age.
Thanks to the support of JOHNSON'S® Baby CARES, Save the Children is able to operate these programs and help new parents, including expectant mothers, learn how to provide a positive and nurturing environment for their babies.
Maximum donation of $150,000 starting 4/29/13 and ending on or before 12/31/13.
