Celebrate the Strength of a Mother's Love
Sunday, May 14, 2017 is Mother’s Day — the perfect time to talk about maternal health and the link between healthy mothers, healthy children, and healthy communities. According to the World Health Organization, more than 300,000 women die each year from pregnancy and childbirth complications, while 5.9 million children die each year before their 5th birthday.
Every day, Save the Children works to improve maternal, newborn, infant and child health and survival in developing countries. The primary and most proven way we do this is by providing women and children with improved access to quality health care services.
In the midst of the food crisis in Niger, hunger is stalking Maria’s young daughter Fatchima. She and her husband, a farmer and water merchant, are working long hours to put food on the table. But when there isn’t any water to sell at the market and their crops are withering to dust, life is a daily struggle.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
You can help reduce the world’s still-too-high infant mortality rate by supporting the work we do every day. Celebrate May and the new beginnings it brings by giving a child the chance of a new beginning.
ABOUT OUR WORK
Supporting Moms and Kids in America
All children are born ready to learn, but for 15 million children living in poverty in America, they enter school unready to succeed.
Happy, Healthy Mother's Day, Every Day
Save the Children works to improve maternal, newborn, infant and child health and survival in the most vulnerable communities around the world.
