Take the Journey of a Lifetime

After breaking free from poverty as a young girl in Uganda, thanks in part to her caring sponsors, Sanyu’s now dedicating her life to giving back. Come along on her journey back to Uganda and meet the little girl she’s now sponsoring.

Change your life (and your child’s!) by planning a visit.

For many sponsors, one of the best parts of being a Save the Children child sponsor is having the chance to visit your sponsored child — to meet face to face, interact in person and create an even closer personal connection with your sponsored child and his or her community.

Your once-in-a-lifetime visit will also give you the opportunity to see your sponsorship donations at work! You'll be able to visit sponsorship programs in your child's community to see how your support is changing the lives of more than just your sponsored child. You’ll also have the chance to interact with local Save the Children staff, whose dedication to children is inspiring.

Are you a Lifeline sponsor or sponsoring our programs in a country? Don’t worry – you can still visit our sponsorship programs to see the impact your support is making, you just won’t meet with a particular child.

Planning your Visit

“I will never forget getting to meet my sponsored child in person. Being able to see the community that he is living in and meet his family was so special and it taught me a lot about what it is like to grow up in this rural environment and see some of the challenges that the community faces. I am very proud to be a sponsor for such a wonderful organization.” –Heidi, who sponsors Jay in Nepal

Getting Started

The first step in planning your visit is to download and complete the application and release forms found here:

Please scan your completed documents and email them to childvisits@savechildren.org.

PLEASE NOTE: If more than one person is travelling with you, please complete the above forms for each traveler. The application to visit, Assumption of Risk and Liability Waiver, as well as the Child Safeguarding Policy Acknowledgement Form are required for every traveler, regardless of age.

Your forms must be received at least 60 days prior to your planned arrival date. Once the forms are received, a background check will be initiated on your behalf. Each person 18 or over will receive an email with links and instructions.

Making Your Visit Arrangements

On receipt of all completed, signed forms and the conclusion of the background check, the Country Office will confirm the dates of your program visit and work with you on the details. In order to ensure that our Country Office staff can continue to do what they do best – improve the lives of children in need – our staff are unable to make travel or tour arrangements for you beyond those needed for the visit to Save the Children's programs. We appreciate your understanding.

Our Child Safety Policy

To uphold our Child Safety Policy and avoid placing sponsored children in harm's way, we conduct a background check for all visitors. It is very important to include all the information asked for on the application, and to sign and return the Child Safeguarding Policy Acknowledgment Form.

Other Things You Should Know

The Country Office may incur expenses (staff time, meals, local transport, etc.) to accommodate your visit to our programs. If possible, we ask that you make a tax-deductible donation.

If your sponsored child lives outside the United States, we recommend you consult the Centers for Disease Control and the U.S. Department of State prior to your visit to obtain appropriate health and safety advisories.
