Fastathon is over, but our work continues. Children in West Africa and around the world still need your help.

Too many children are fighting for their lives due to the hunger crisis in West Africa. Children don’t have enough to eat — and one million lives are at risk. That’s why we’ve mounted an emergency response to help children and families in West Africa live a life free from hunger, with support such as nutrition, therapeutic feeding and farming programs. Caring people from around the world participated in a 24-hour “fasting marathon” by skipping a snack, missing a meal or fasting* for the full 24 hours to help raise funds and awareness.

Fatchima's Story

Success Story Photo - Fastathon 2012

Little Fatchima, 9 months old, should be laughing and playing nursery games. Instead, her wide eyes tell the terrible tale of hunger and want in West Africa today.

By the time Fatchima arrived at this Save the Children supported health center, she was listless and literally wasting away. Suffering from severe acute malnutrition, Fatchima is fighting for her life.

Is there hope for Fatchima? Yes!

Save the Children, with decades of experience in child-centered emergency aid, is on the ground, delivering proven, low-cost treatments that work — helping children like Fatchima not only survive but thrive.

Soon, Fatchima will be laughing and playing, with a twinkle in her eyes, again. With your help, we can reach so many more little ones looking to us for help. Join us.
