Livelihoods Work with Youth
Save the Children implements several youth-focused programs that have demonstrated that early introduction of skills and training in cash management and savings practices lead to more positive long-term financial habits and improved future prospects, especially for girls. Youth Savings in MalawiYouth-run Village Savings and Loan groups are helping hundreds of young people, boys and girls, to save money, establish small businesses and improve their financial literacy. Strengthening Girls’ Voices in BangladeshThe impact of savings and financial competency on the livelihoods of girls and their families is part of a broader program being researched by Save the Children. The project provides a number of services aimed at promoting health, safety and economic security of adolescent girls in Bangladesh. Savings groups enable girls to pay for school and health expenses, and provide a solid foundation in financial literacy. Last Updated October 2010 |
