Gabriela Hearst Partners with NET-A-PORTER and Bergdorf Goodman to Raise Awareness for the Hunger Crisis and Impending Famine in Kenya; Pledges $600,000 to Save the Children for Famine Relief Efforts

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (October 13, 2017)— Gabriela Hearst pledged to donate $600,000 for Save the Children’s famine relief efforts in Turkana, Kenya. To help raise much-needed awareness of the famine and in partnership with NET-A-PORTER and Bergdorf Goodman, the highly coveted Gabriela Hearst handbag collection was available for immediate purchase for the first time from October 1 to 8, 2017.

The eight-day sale period exceeded Gabriela’s expectations and within hours, styles were sold out immediately with the fastest sell-through on a Gabriela Hearst bag within such a short period of time.

Gabriela Hearst’s donation will provide cash grants of around $55 per month to more than 1,000 families in the Turkana region through the next harvest. These grants will give families the ability to purchase life-sustaining food, livestock and clean water to help them survive the drought.
