FAIRFIELD, Conn. (Oct. 30, 2015) —
For the second year, the Ugly Sweater
Run will benefit Save the Children as its 18-city tour descends upon North
America starting Nov. 28. The annual run, which is in its fifth year, celebrates
the joyous season of giving with a 3.1 mile run in the most beautiful and
outrageous holiday sweaters.
A family tradition that brings "snow" to
every city, the Ugly Sweater Run also includes a visit from Santa, bottomless
hot chocolate and, of course, awards and prizes for the tackiest holiday flare.
It is open to all ages, free for children five years old and under, and all
participants will have the option to donate $5 or more during registration and
create an online fundraising platform to help support Save the Children.
"The Ugly Sweater Run is the perfect,
festive way to have some quality fun with family and friends this holiday
season, while giving back to children in need in the U.S. and all around the
world," said Carolyn Miles, president and CEO for Save the Children.
Backed by popular demand, an additional four
cities will round out Ugly Sweater Run’s 18-stop U.S. tour. Newly added cities Pittsburgh,
Penn.; Colorado Springs, Colo.; Charlotte, N.C.; and Baltimore, Md. will join
in on the holiday fun, with each participant receiving an all-new custom collectible
knit hat, unlimited hot chocolate and, for those over 21, a seasonal cold one from
Ugly Sweater Run official partner Samuel Adams. Operation
Gratitude will also be
on-site at every stop collecting goods for gift packages and designing
"thank you cards" to send to our troops overseas.
The Ugly Sweater Run, organized by
active entertainment company Human Movement Inc., is a unique spin on a holiday
