New York City, NY (Nov. 19, 2014) — Save the Children and Johnson & Johnson announced today a global partnership that has the potential to help millions of children over the next three years. The $10 million commitment was announced in New York City at Save the Children's second annual Illumination Gala, where Johnson & Johnson was the presenting sponsor.
"For 20 years, Johnson & Johnson has been a committed partner to Save the Children and their significant funding of our programs has created healthier communities and transformed the lives of children all over the world," said Carolyn Miles, President and CEO of Save the Children. "The announcement of a new global partnership with Johnson & Johnson will help to propel us forward over the next three years, and hopefully another 20 beyond that."
The multi-million dollar, multi-year commitment will cover core mission support; program support to improve newborn survival; local activation; and gift-in-kind services. In addition, Johnson & Johnson will continue to support Save the Children in non-monetary ways, including through advocacy/thought leadership; media/awareness building; and employee engagement, among others.
"Tonight marks the beginning of an expanded dedication to Save the Children," said Alex Gorsky, Chairman and CEO of Johnson & Johnson. "We hope that this partnership will inspire innovation to improve the survival and healthy development of children under age 5, especially newborns."
This global partnership will be executed across the Johnson & Johnson global enterprise. The partnership remains grounded in expanding work around newborn survival, but it goes well beyond to use Johnson & Johnson expertise, reach and influence to affect future generations – wherever they may live. Work with Save the Children is expanding to include even more parts of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies in making a meaningful difference for mothers, children and families.
