At a school in Connecticut, students like Alex (pictured above) and Melissa (below), crafted dozens of little caps for babies living on the other side of the world.
These school kids are joined by hundreds of American children from across the country who are urging President Barack Obama to save the world’s babies as part of Save the Children’s grassroots campaign, Knit One, Save One.
Hoping to inspire America’s leaders to do more to save the nearly 4 million newborns that die each year in developing countries, the children have even asked the President to make his own cap, while others have asked him to write back.
