Save the Children Joins FiftyP to Connect Young Donors with Children in Need

This alliance will nurture a new generation of philanthropists

WESTPORT, Conn. (April 8, 2009) — The global humanitarian organization Save the Children today announced a partnership with FiftyP, Inc., creator of www.fiftyp.com, the socially conscious, money-management website for kids. FiftyP will feature the work of Save the Children on its family website, and will collect donations from its members on behalf of the organization's programs around the world.

"As we’ve seen from the response of children to our work around the world — from knitting baby caps to helping victims of natural disasters, children want to make the world a better place," said Charles MacCormack, president and CEO of Save the Children. "Save the Children’s alliance with FiftyP will offer parents and children an exciting and meaningful way to learn about children’s lives around the world and how they can help make improvements in their circumstances."

"This collaboration will benefit children on both ends of the donation," observed FiftyP founder and CEO Anton Simunovic. "We're very pleased to support the vital work of Save the Children and to give our members the chance to reach out to other kids in other parts of the world."

Raising social awareness is at the core of the FiftyP model, which strives to help children develop a healthy relationship with money. Together, children and parents decide how to divide their money on FiftyP between Save, Spend and Share accounts.

Through the Share web page, children can choose from a menu of options to see how their dollars can help nonprofit organizations. Some of the Save the Children choices include preventing and treating malaria, caring for newborns and giving children an early start on school success. Simunovic predicts that Save the Children's emphasis on tangible interventions will resonate deeply with FiftyP members, who range in age from six to 16.

Donations to Save the Children will help children in one or more of the following countries:  Bangladesh, Bolivia, Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, Nepal and Nicaragua.

FiftyP.com (www.fiftyp.com) is a 100 percent safe web site for kids, teaching them to be smart about money and compassionate toward the world we share. It lets them experience the power of investing and the pride of working toward financial goals. It teaches them to be wise shoppers and steady savers. FiftyP also stands for a new way of doing business, as 50 percent (or FiftyP) of its profits go to charity.

Save the Children (www.savethechildren.org) is the leading, independent organization creating lasting change for children in need in the United States and around the world. For more than 75 years, Save the Children has been helping children survive and thrive by improving their health, education and economic opportunities and, in times of acute crisis, mobilizing lifesaving assistance to help children recover from the effects of war, conflict and natural disasters.
