Myths and Realities about Children and the
UN members gathered at an important UN World Summit September 14 to 16 to review progress towards the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). In 2000, 189 UN member countries, including the United States, pledged to achieve eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015, in order to achieve “a more prosperous and just world.” All of these goals would save children’s lives and improve their well-being.
Two goals specifically target children. Save the Children explores these goals, some common myths and what the United States can do to help.
