The Westchester Volunteer Council

The Westchester Volunteer Council (WVC) is located in Westchester, New York. The group was the vision of Alice Stone Ilchman, Save the Children Trustee and Westchester resident. She enlisted Christina (Tina) Staudt to help lead and organize the Council.

To kick off the activities of the new volunteer group, the Council organized a Symposium featuring Save the Children's work in the developing world at Sarah Lawrence College in 2000. Sixty women attended presentations and participated in workshops with Save the Children experts on education, health and economic development. The first official WVC Board meeting was held in 2001.
