The Leadership Council of Long Island Polo players compete at the Leadership Council of Long Island's annual Polo event.    The Leadership Council of Long Island was founded in 1984 by Susan Lassen and M.L. Galston in response to a devastating famine in Ethiopia. From a small luncheon party which raised a few hundred dollars for this cause, the Council now raises and distributes at their Annual Meeting in September, over a quarter of a million dollars to the Save the Children programs worldwide. The Council is made up of a working board of about 25 people, an events committee of about 45, and a community advisory committee of men and women from the business and educational fields.
