RSS (an acronym for “Really Simple Syndication” technology) is an easy way for you to automatically receive updated news and information from your favorite websites. Save the Children often posts new information that may be important to you – about our work, breaking emergencies and opportunities to get involved – but unless you visit our site frequently, you may not be aware of these updates.
RSS allows you to automatically receive updates when new items are posted. Using a news reader, headlines and summaries (with links to full stories on Save the Children's website) are organized into folders for RSS subscribers. You may also add RSS feeds to your "My Yahoo!" or Google personalized home pages.
I Want to Learn More About RSS Feeds:
Save the Children encourages you to learn more about RSS before you subscribe or download. The following sites provide information about RSS feeds:
- RSS Specifications
- RSS Video Tutorial (from CNET.com)
- Yahoo!'s RSS Headlines – Frequently Asked Questions
- MSN Syndicated Content
For a demo, CNET.com's news section has a short, informative RSS Video Tutorial that can help you better understand RSS feeds.
What are the Benefits of Subscribing to Save the Children's
RSS Feed?
- Save time by getting updates and breaking news – as soon as they are published instead of having to visit our website to see what’s new.
- Self-organizing – as the RSS feed arrives in the categorized folder that you specify when you subscribe to the feed.
- Easy to opt-out – as soon as you decide you are no longer interested in receiving the news feed, you can easily delete the feed and you will no longer receive updates. Deleting the RSS feed from Save the Children does not impact other communications you may receive from Save the Children. You should change your Save the Children donor preferences to make changes to other communication streams from Save the Children. Review our Privacy Policy for more information.
