Jessica Lange Travels to Western Ethiopia Academy Award-winning actress Jessica Lange, a Save the Children Ambassador, travelled to western Ethiopia in March 2008 and captured many images of hope. In a special video report, Lange takes us inside a local health clinic that serves 250,000 people. Trained health workers are delivering babies, they are weighing and measuring toddlers, and vaccinating young children. Lange also visited a small farming village in the front lines where neighborhood women are trained to diagnose health problems like malaria. In just a few years the Ethiopian government partnership with groups like Save the Children has trained 27,000 women who work in and beyond health clinics. | ||

Miley Cyrus Shows Clay County She Cares In March, Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus — accompanied by her father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus — made a surprise visit to Big Creek Elementary School in Clay County, Kentucky, where Save the Children supports school literacy and early childhood programs. Not on Our Watch Aids Survivors in Myanmar On May 13, 2008, Not on Our Watch, an organization headed by George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Don Cheadle, Jerry Weintraub and David Pressman, announced a $250,000 challenge grant to Save the Children for Myanmar cyclone relief and recovery efforts. It was matched by other donors less than a week after the challenge was made. In addition to the challenge grant, Not On Our Watch provided a $250,000 donation to Save the Children's Myanmar cyclone relief fund. The combined $500,000 donation will allow Save the Children to expand its relief and recovery efforts in Myanmar and distribute more food, water and essential non-food items. | ||

Five for Fighting Asks Fans to Make a Difference Five for Fighting musician, John Ondrasik, launched a website of songs and videos that ask, "What kind of world do you want?"
