News Update
September 9, 2009 — WESTPORT, Conn. — Tens of thousands of children in Gaza remain at risk. Gazans with acute medical problems are finding it difficult to seek care outside Gaza and repair homes damaged during the conflict.
What You Can Do
Save the Children needs your support to help us meet the most critical needs of children and families in Gaza with vital food, water and medical supplies. Save the Children also will provide baby hygiene kits, household kits and safe play kits. Even a small amount can go a long way toward providing relief for children. For instance:
With a donation of $40 we can provide a safe play kit for a family's children, providing safe indoor activities and a returned sense of normalcy.
With a donation of $50 we can help supply a family with food staples for two weeks.
With a donation of $100 we can purchase a crib for a family, providing a safe and warm environment for their infants to sleep.
These are just some examples of the things Save the Children provides to meet the critical needs of children and families in Gaza. Your support can make it possible for us do all this … and so much more.
Our Response
Since the crisis began on Dec. 27, 2008, Save the Children staff members have reached some 250,000 people, of whom 140,000 are children, not including people reached through the distribution of medical supplies in hospitals — in Gaza City, east Jebaliya, Beit Lahia, Beit Hanoun and Umm Al Nasser with food and medical supplies. We are also meeting children's needs by setting up Child-Friendly Spaces with games and activities.
Save the Children has worked in Gaza and the West Bank for more than 30 years. The agency implements nearly half of its programs there in conjunction with local partners.
