Save the Children staff are on the ground in Myanmar assisting children and families affected by Cyclone Nargis. Many are currently staying in shelters or with relatives since their homes were destroyed in the cyclone. Read their stories.

"I was so scared. The roofs were flying and I was frightened that these will come and hit me. I also feel so sad to see that my school was totally destroyed. The school will start soon, and I was so worried that we could not attend the school in time. I want my house and my school rebuilt again." —Age 12

"I was so frightened when I saw the storm and the roaring sound of the storm. I was saying prayers all the time. My house was totally destroyed. I want my house rebuilt again because I don't want to live with the relatives because they are not like my parents and they also are suffering. Please help us if you can." —Age 10

"I was so scared. It's the first time I have seen such kind of thing. I had to stay in the lap of my mother. I don't want this kind of accident to happen again. The only thing I want at the moment is to have my house rebuilt again as soon as possible. I want to stay with my family again because I don't want to stay in the shelter. It is not my home." —Age 9

"When the storm came in, the roof of my house was totally gone. The water came in and I was so chilled. I was so scared that my grandmother and my mother would die because of the storm. I don't want them die rather I would die for them. So I said prayers. I was also worried about my father because he was at the sea then. I haven't had any news from my father. I was so worried. I just want to live [with] my family together again. The thing that I most desire at the moment is to have my house rebuilt so that our family can live happily together again." —Age 12
