Through the Eyes of Children

One Year Later-Rebuilding Lives

First-hand Report from President Charles MacCormack

CNN's Paula Zahn talks to Save the Children President Charles MacCormack one year after the Tsunami

The 1-Year Progress Report is dedicated to the millions of children whose lives were changed by the earthquake and tsunami in Asia last December. Many thousands of children lost their lives and many surviving children lost one or both parents. Children — especially those living in poverty — are the most vulnerable victims of a disaster and its aftermath.

Through this report, we bring the story of our emergency response and our strategies for the next four years aimed at helping rebuild children’s lives. We account for our spending and budget priorities for our work, made possible by the generous outpouring of donations from across the world.

Download the full report as we tell this story with a focus on children — a look through the eyes of children at a region beginning to recover.

You can help Save the Children respond to emergencies that put at great risk the survival, protection, and well-being of significant numbers of children. By contributing to the Children's Emergency Fund, you enable us to respond immediately to children and families who urgently need our help when disasters strike.
