In 2005, Save the Children announced a major expansion of its efforts to engage youth and teenagers throughout the Middle East in community-based development programs. One of these programs, called "Najah," which means "success" in Arabic, aims to increase the employability of Jordanian youth ages 18-24.
The Najah program now is the focus of a special multimedia online series, launched in June 2008 by the Middle East Youth Initiative, to spotlight innovative civil society efforts on youth development in the Middle East. The series is called "Al-Shabab Awalan" ("Youth First"). Organizations and their programs are nominated for the series based on their commitment to youth and their innovative approaches.
The multimedia series showcases podcasts with interviews of the program team and "Point of View" articles by youth beneficiaries.
