In Ethiopia, Save the Children has piloted an innovative health program for youth by partnering with Soccer Saves, to integrate youth soccer with HIV prevention and sexual health education.
The program combines best practices in adolescent health programs with Soccer Saves' method of training coaches and players. This partnership has already helped us train 18 coaches and reach over 352 adolescents.
With a worldwide HIV epidemic, there is an urgent need to reach this vulnerable group with information and services that will help them make responsible choices that reduce health risks, and better position them for the future.
