Cisco Systems

Cisco Systems has made significant contributions to Save the Children by improving the way we deliver our mission through professional services, in-kind gifts and financial support. Specific support includes:

  • Cisco Fellows, a multi-year program providing nonprofit organizations with high level technical and management support through the full-time efforts of participating Cisco employees. The skills and caliber of the Fellows gave Save the Children resources it otherwise could not afford.

Charity Projects Entertainment Fund

As a result of Idol Gives Back, a two-night, prime-time fundraising TV special in April 2007, Save the Children is receiving $13.5 million to assist children in need in six African countries and more than 25 impoverished communities across the United States. In partnership with FOX Broadcasting Company and TV's American Idol, the public and corporations donated more than $75 million to numerous charities helping children in Africa and the United States during Idol Gives Back. The funds are being distributed by Charity Projects Entertainment Fund (CPEF), an organization established to raise money and awareness to help combat extreme poverty in the U.S. and throughout the world, particularly in Africa. CPEF selected Save the Children on the basis of its excellent track record on issues related to extreme poverty. Read More.

Foot Locker

Foot Locker, Inc. stores, including Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, Lady Foot Locker, Footaction and Champs Sports feature a red or black medallion bracelet dedicated to raising funds to benefit Save the Children's physical activity and nutrition programs in the United States.  In addition, during this year’s Back-to-School season, Foot Locker, Lady Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker hosted an “Give-a-Buck” promotion in-store and on-line from August 10th through September 12th in which customers were asked to make a donation to Save the Children’s global education programs.  Since 2004, Foot Locker has donated over $5 million in cash and valuable gift- in-kind to help children, families and communities in need in the United States and around the world.

Microsoft

With offices in more than 50 countries, keeping staff outfitted with the necessary hardware and software to stay connected is critical to the work of Save the Children. We are able to meet this need thanks in part to a very generous $4.5 million grant awarded by Microsoft for desktop and server upgrades in 2002. This grant is part of a Microsoft Community Affairs pilot program that encourages nonprofit organizations to use innovative technology solutions to improve their efficiency and effectiveness. In 2005, Save the Children USA, Save the Children UK and the Secretariat were awarded a total of $6M in in-kind software and support for 2 years. Scholastic Book Clubs

Scholastic Book Clubs is a proud supporter of Save the Children's literacy initiative in the U.S., having donated close to 2.5 million books since 2001 through "ClassroomsCare," a school-based initiative that teaches children about the meaning and rewards of reading and giving. The "ClassroomsCare" program was honored with a Gold Cause Marketing Halo Award for Best Social Service/Education Campaign at the fifth annual Cause Marketing Forum in 2007.

The total number of books donated is based on the number of books read by children in participating classrooms nationwide. This year, Scholastic has committed to donating over 300,000 books to Save the Children’s U.S. Programs. Read more about Save the Children's United States literacy programs.

T.J. Maxx

Since 1984, T.J. Maxx and their customers have been devoted partners to Save the Children, working to help the agency deliver much-needed monetary and merchandise donations to children in need. This unique partnership has raised over $12 million to support Save the Children's U.S. Programs through a combination of T.J. Maxx's very popular "Happy Hearts" at-register promotion, gift-in-kind donations and the sponsorship of over 910 U.S. children.

$1 Million to $4,999,999

Allstate Insurance Group

With a generous $1 million donation, Allstate Insurance Company has helped Save the Children to give new hope to children in need in the United States. As part of the momentous Idol Gives Back charity event that aired in April 2007 on Fox network's American Idol television program, Allstate and Save the Children have partnered to benefit children and young people living in extreme poverty in several locations in Louisiana and Mississippi. American Express

American Express Travel Related Services Company, Inc. and its Cardmembers continue to support Save the Children through the Membership Rewards® program. The company has also run holiday promotions and workplace giving campaigns. In 2005, OPEN from American Express made a generous donation on behalf of its Business Cardmembers to Save the Children and its model literacy programs in California. In 2008 American Express contributed to the emergency in Myanmar following the devastation wrought by Cyclone Nargis. In all, American Express, its employees and its Cardmembers have contributed over $650,000 since 1998.

Cadbury Adams USA

Cadbury Adams USA, the U.S. confectionery unit of Cadbury Schweppes, joined forces with Save the Children in 2006 to help kids in need in areas of persistent rural poverty in the U.S. Cadbury Adams U.S. employees have reached out with their hearts and hands to help Save the Children brighten the kids' days by donating loads of new school supplies at back-to-school time, holiday gifts and visiting our programs in Appalachia. In addition, the company has provided funding for Save the Children's initiatives supporting literacy and physical activity and nutrition in 13 states.

Chevron Corporation

Chevron Corporation has joined forces with Save the Children to help restore child care centers in hard-hit areas of Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina. Chevron's recent $2 million contribution to Save the Children will support the construction of two new child care centers in Mississippi's Harrison and Hancock Counties, to be located on site with elementary schools. The new centers are located in the communities of Bay St. Louis/Waveland and Pass Christian, MS, two of the hardest hit areas after hurricane Katrina. Chevron's generous contribution will provide quality child care to many working parents so they can return to jobs and help contribute to the region's economic recovery.

Citi Foundation

Citi Foundation has supported Save the Children for more than a decade with over $2 million in grants and contributions to assist children and families in developing countries. Reaching countries as diverse as Bangladesh, Ethiopia and Lebanon, Citi Foundation has helped us further our mission of creating lasting and positive change for children in need. Most recently, Citi Foundation has supported a program for orphans and vulnerable children in South Africa and a micro-finance program in Vietnam. Read more

Credit Suisse

The Credit Suisse Group Foundation has donated $1 million to Save the Children for the construction of schools in Indonesia's Aceh province. More than 1,200 schools — 22 percent of all schools in the region — were damaged or destroyed by the tsunami of December 2004 and the earthquake of March 2005. This important gift from the Credit Suisse Group Foundation is being used to rebuild four schools.

ExxonMobil

In 2007, the ExxonMobil Foundation awarded Save the Children over $500,000 to build four community schools and two health posts in the Kwanza Sul Province of Angola. This gift is part of ExxonMobil's global community initiative to implement education projects and programs for the benefit of women and girls in the developing world. This project builds on ExxonMobil Foundation's previous donation of $200,000 for the construction of up to 24 classrooms in Angola. Save the Children is involving Angolan communities in school construction, management and teacher selection to ensure that schools are safe, accessible and free, thereby eliminating obstacles to girls attending school. ExxonMobil is also supporting Save the Children's tsunami relief and recovery efforts in Aceh with a donation of $3.5 million, which includes a company match for contributions made by ExxonMobil employees, retirees, surviving spouses, dealers and distributors.

General Electric

The General Electric (GE) Foundation is helping Save the Children build a brighter future for girls in Malawi and Mali. The programs are reaching thousands of children, with special emphasis on the academic and social achievement of girls. The "Building a Brighter Future" project promotes classroom and school-community environments that support girls' education and health, and establishing youth clubs to promote life skills, reduce dropout and enable girls to voice their opinions. GlaxoSmithKline

PHASE — Personal Hygiene and Sanitation Education — is a simple handwashing program for schoolchildren that saves lives by reducing diarrhea-related disease associated with poor hygiene. GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) developed the PHASE program in 1998, having identified personal hygiene and sanitation of school-age children as a neglected health education priority in developing countries. This award-winning school-based initiative has been recognized internationally for its impact in helping children to lead healthier lives and for contributing to the UN's Millennium Development Goals. Thanks to generous grants from GSK to Save the Children for its school health and nutrition programs, PHASE has been introduced in Bangladesh, Tajikistan, Bolivia, Mexico and Nias Island, Indonesia. GlaxoSmithKline is one of the world's leading research-based pharmaceutical companies. Its global mission is to improve the quality of human life by enabling people to do more, feel better and live longer. IKEA

IKEA North America Services, a partner since 2001, has supported Save the Children's international and domestic education programs. Most recently, in 2007, as part of its "Home is the Most Important Place in the World" campaign, IKEA announced it will support Save the Children's Early Steps to School Success program in the United States, over the next three years. This program provides poor, rural families with home-based services for children from 0 to five.

For the fourth consecutive year, IKEA will hold its holiday soft-toy promotion, starting in November, to benefit Save the Children's global education programs. The 2007 promotion broke numerous records raising more than $5.9 million globally and beating the sales goal in the U.S. by more than 100,000 soft toys.

Johnson & Johnson

Johnson & Johnson has been a loyal supporter of Save the Children since 1993, committing over $1.2 million in grants, contributions, matching gifts and gifts-in-kind. Johnson & Johnson also supports Save the Children's programs in Thailand and the Philippines with grants and contributions that benefit thousands of children by providing much-needed educational and health resources.  In addition, Johnson and Johnson provided support for emergency programs following the earthquake in Sichuan China (2008) and tsunami-affected areas of Asia (2005).

Kraft Foods

Kraft Foods is helping Save the Children help children in coffee-growing communities in El Salvador and Guatemala with $480,000 to fund a four-year effort to develop self-sustaining community-based childhood education and development programs in four communities. These programs benefit preschool children of coffee farmers and workers with educational and recreational programming, which give these young children an opportunity to have fun, while simultaneously giving them the preparation they will need when they ultimately start primary school. The community centers also promote youth development and recreation activities. In Mexico, Kraft is generously contributing to a healthy lifestyles program, Alimentarnos Para Vivir Mejor.

Since 2005, Kraft has provided significant resources to assist children and families affected by emergencies worldwide.  Most recently, Kraft has supported our emergency response following the cyclone in Bangladesh, earthquake in China and famine in Ethiopia, with generous contributions to assist children and their families on their way to recovery.

Mattel

In 2008, the Mattel Children's Foundation awarded $500,000 to Save the Children to Early Steps to School Success, which provides early childhood education services to pregnant women and children birth to five years of age, education services to their parents and staff training to community early childhood educators. This generous support from the Mattel Children's Foundation   is being used to expand the Early Steps programs in Appalachia and the Gulf Coast and to launch the expansion of the program internationally to El Salvador and the Philippines. Also in 2008, Mattel helped the children affected by earthquake in China with a donation of $50,000 and gifts-in-kind, and helped children in cyclone-affected Myanmar with a donation of $25,000.

In previous years the Mattel Children's Foundation joined with Save the Children to create education and literacy opportunities for young children worldwide. This partnership, funded by a donation of $1.2 million, focused on literacy programs in six rural areas in the U.S. and access to education in Uganda, the Philippines, Guinea, Afghanistan, Malawi and Mali. Mattel, Inc. also generously donated $250,000 to Save the Children to provide assistance to children affected by the tsunami, and its employees contributed an additional funds. In 2006 the Mattel Children's Foundation supported Save the Children's work to assist the victims of the Java earthquake. Mattel recently launched a campaign to mark the 30th anniversary of the Mattel Children's Foundation, by providing an opportunity for Mattel employees to aid children in need worldwide through Save the Children child sponsorship.

Nike Foundation

In 2006 the Nike Foundation awarded a three-year, $1.58 million grant to empower adolescent girls in Bangladesh and Malawi.  This partnership is providing girls ages 10-19 in selected communities in impoverished areas of Bangladesh and Malawi with improved skills and access to quality education, health and credit services so that they are valued in their communities and have a stronger sense of their abilities and rights, resulting in reductions in household and community poverty, and food insecurity.  In 2007 the Nike Foundation made a generous donation in support of Save the Children’s emergency response to Cyclone Sidr in Bangladesh. With this support, Save the Children was able to provide immediate lifesaving relief and protection to support the survival and development of children in families who were injured or displaced. Funded by Nike, Inc., the Nike Foundation applies its assets, networks and knowledge to unleashing the untapped potential of girls, so they can influence not only their own futures, but also those of generations to come. The Foundation works with leading local, national and international organizations to raise awareness and incite action to remove the barriers to health, education, economic opportunity and justice facing girls today. Phillips-Van Heusen

During the summer, apparel manufacturer and retailer Phillips-Van Heusen supports Save the Children's U.S. Programs through their annual PVH Cares initiative undertaken in approximately 700 outlet stores nationwide. Customers of PVH's Van Heusen, Bass, IZOD, Geoffrey Beene and Calvin Klein outlet stores generously donate between $1 and $20 to the campaign at the point of sale; logos are hung near the register to recognize customer contributions. Since 2005, Phillips-Van Heusen has donated over $1MM to Save the Children.

Premier Oil

Premier Oil teamed up with Save the Children in 1997 to support the Yetagun Socio-Economic Development Program in Myanmar, which provides a cadre of education, microfinance & health services. Premier Oil's generous support totals over $3.3 million in grant funding, directly benefiting some of the most impoverished children in the country. Save the Children's Indonesia programs have also benefited from Premier Oil's support with grants and contributions totaling over $185,000.

Reckitt Benckiser

Reckitt Benckiser, the world leader in non-laundry household products, and an established Save the Children supporter, has demonstrated its commitment to children with generous contributions aimed at helping us bring lasting, positive change to lives of children in need. Reckitt Benckiser launched a partnership with Save the Children in 2004 to raise money to fund programs to bring improved health and hygiene to children and families in countries that need it most. They have raised over £1 million to date.

Starbucks

Starbucks and Save the Children have joined hands to positively benefit children and families in coffee growing communities. In Indonesia’s Aceh province we are working to assist 40 villages with improved healthcare programs that focus on the needs of pregnant women and young children as well as access to early childhood development programs for children under the age of 5. In three highland provinces of rural Guatemala we provide bilingual, multicultural education to over 9,000 pre-primary, primary, and secondary school students with culturally appropriate curricula that emphasizes their Mayan traditions. Starbucks partners (employees) also contribute to the improvement of schools in Guatemala, donating funds to help establish libraries and playgrounds on the school grounds. Toys"R"Us, Inc.

Toys"R"Us, Inc. and the Toys"R"Us Children's Fund have provided Save the Children with financial support of more than $1.6 million including immediate disaster relief for the 2007 Southern California wildfires, “super Tuesday” tornados, Midwest flooding and Hurricane Gustav and Ike in 2008— as well as significant funding to support tsunami relief and reconstruction efforts in Southeast Asia.  Since it was founded in 1992, the Toys"R"Us Children's Fund has donated millions of dollars each year to organizations and charities that keep children safe and help them in times of need.

Towers Perrin

Towers Perrin and Save the Children have developed a strong corporate partnership over the past four years. The partnership began in 2005 when Towers Perrin was one of the first firms to show its support for Save the Children's tsunami relief and reconstruction efforts. In 2006, the firm made a generous donation to Save the Children's Orphans and Vulnerable Children's program in Ethiopia. For the past two years (2007 and again in 2008), the firm has made a significant commitment to help children whose lives have been affected by armed conflict in Afghanistan and Sudan. For the second year, the Stamford-based company has joined a global program entitled "Rewrite the Future" sponsored by the International Save the Children Alliance. $500,000 to $999,999

BD

 

For more than a decade, BD has collaborated with Save the Children by providing over $600,000 in contributions, gifts-in-kind, event support, and matching gifts. Most recently, BD has focused its support on Save the Children's HIV/AIDS programming by supporting a two-year project to improve health outcomes for people living with HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia's "high-risk corridors" - communities along two major trade routes. Previously, BD contributed medical supplies as well as funding to establish two clinics for high-risk and vulnerable populations in the Republic of Georgia. As a result of BD's contributions, more than 2,000 clients have benefited from free-of-charge, high-quality services. Read more.

Father's Day/Mother's Day Council

The National Father's Day / Mother's Day Council is a not-for-profit organization that strives to heighten the meaning and observance of Father's Day and Mother's Day, raise philanthropic funds and present Father of the Year / Outstanding Mother Awards to mothers and fathers of high accomplishment in their chosen fields who have also exhibited enormous achievement as parents. This year, the National Father's Day Council honored Randy Jackson, Save the Children Ambassador, and Mark Shriver, Vice President and Managing Director for U.S. Programs at the 67th Annual Father of the Year Awards.  The other honorees included Ron Klein, Chairman and CEO of Macy's East and Paul O'Neill, former New York Yankees All-Star.  Save the Children benefited from a similar event in May that recognized exceptional mothers.  Organized by the National Mother's Day Council, the 30th Annual Outstanding Mother Awards honored Caroline Kennedy, Vice Chair of the New York City Fund for Public Schools, Vera Wang, fashion designer and CEO of Vera Wang, Inc., Elizabeth Edwards, author, attorney and children's advocate, and Debbie Murtha, Senior Vice President of Cosmetics, Macy's Merchandising Group.  The National Father's Day / Mother's Day Council has donated more than $725,000 to Save the Children since 2005.

New York Life Foundation

New York Life Foundation has granted $585,000 to Save the Children to expand our successful model literacy program to six underserved, rural communities in the Gulf Coast that were impacted by hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The communities selected are home to some of the most challenging conditions for children in the United States, with persistent poverty, high unemployment, low educational attainment, and high dropout rates. This grant has enabled Save the Children to provide children in Mississippi and Louisiana with high-quality literacy services through afterschool and summer programs, as well as in-school reading support. Stemcor

Stemcor has supported Save the Children’s ethnic minority education programs in Vietnam since 2004 and Bhutan since 2006. With the help of Stemcor’s support, Save the Children has been implementing a Reading for Children initiative among disadvantaged ethnic communities in Central Vietnam. Through close collaboration with the provincial department of education and local mass organizations, the Reading for Children initiative aims to mobilize ethnic communities to play a greater role in increasing and improving learning opportunities for their youngest members. Stemcor has also supported teacher training programs in Bhutan. Most recently, Stemcor has committed to support displaced Iraqi children in Jordan, giving them access to quality education and protection until it is safe for them to return home.

$200,000 to $499,999

eBay

EBay has helped Save the Children respond to emergencies around the world that put children’s survival, protection, and well-being at risk. Most recently, eBay has supported Save the Children’s relief efforts in Myanmar after more than 84,000 people lost their lives when Cyclone Nargis hit in May. After Cyclone Nargis hit Myanmar, Save the Children helped tens of thousands of children and families in many devastated communities, ensuring their immediate survival and assisting in their long-term recovery. eBay also supported Save the Children’s relief and recovery efforts during the Tsunami in 2004. Google.org

Google.org counts on Save the Children as a valuable partner and grantee. When Cyclone Nargis struck Myanmar in 2008 reaping destruction and death, officials quickly reached out to Save the Children.  Google.org's gift of $200,000 provided essential aid at a time of critical need. Save the Children is also exploring how Google's technology and talent can benefit to the humanitarian sector. Along these lines, Save the Children intends to leverage its key position in NetHope, a consortium of 23 Chief Information Officers (CIOs) from the largest international humanitarian aid organizations, to proliferate these solutions and best practices once they are developed.

Fox Entertainment Group

Fox Entertainment Group made a 5-year $250,000 pledge to support Save the Children through 2011. They have been a strong supporter of Save the Children since 1998 providing general mission support which is the cornerstone funding that underpins our work and the experienced staff that makes these programs possible.

Fox Entertainment Group is a unit of News Corporation. It is principally engaged in the development, production and worldwide distribution of feature films and television programs, television broadcasting and cable network programming. The Company’s studios, production facilities and film and television library provide high-quality creative content, and the Company’s broadcasting and cable networks provide extensive distribution platforms for the Company’s programs.

Levi Strauss Foundation

Levi Strauss & Co. and the Levi Strauss Foundation have been Save the Children supporters for over 20 years. Pepsico Foundation

Since 1997 PepsiCo employees have been generously contributing to Save the Children and increasing their personal contributions through the company's Matching Gift Program, which allows employees' gifts to be matched at a single, double or even triple match. In 2005 the PepsiCo Foundation generously contributed $100,000 to support Save the Children's response to the food crisis in West Africa and $200,000 to support relief in Pakistan. Target

Target and Save the Children Team Up to Benefit Children in India

With a recent gift of $200,000 Save the Children and Target have partnered to help more than 6,000 children in Andhra Pradesh, India meet their potential, by giving them access to child-focused, gender-sensitive and inclusive teaching environments. Thanks to Target's support, Save the Children will engage and work with a variety of governmental and community stakeholders to create child-friendly learning environments in 111 Anganwadi Centers and 38 primary schools in Tirupathi, Chitoor District in poor and marginalized communities.

During the summer of 2008 Target supported Save the Children's emergency response to the worst flood to hit the Bihar state of India in more than 50 years. Target also donated $250,000 in 2008 to Save the Children's emergency response in the earthquake-stricken areas of China. Target's funds were used to help set up child-friendly "safe spaces" so that children had a place to play and learn while their parents recovered from family loss or had to be out the home to start rebuilding their lives. Target's generous gift was also used to set up temporary schooling with sufficient training, materials and equipment to allow children to resume their classes.

Since 1946, Target has given 5 percent of their income to support education, the arts, social services and volunteerism. Today, that's over $3 million every week. For more information about Target, visit www.target.com.

Every holiday season, generous contributions facilitated by The Today Show Toy Drive bring joy and happiness to children and youth in the United States. In addition to a great variety of toys, contributions have also included books, stuffed animals, puppets, videos, sports equipment and much more.

Sovereign Bank

Sovereign Bank joined the Save the Children family in 2007 and has been helping to grow our circle of friends in a most significant way. Sovereign generously supported Save the Children by helping to raise awareness and financial support for the 75th anniversary benefit that was held on Sept. 6, 2007 at Lincoln Center.  Sovereign was able to raise close to $200,000 in support of the benefit by reaching out and sharing Save the Children’s message to create real and lasting change in the lives of children with their constituents and business associates.

TripAdvisor

TripAdvisor, the world’s leading travel community, is launching “In One Small Step You can make a huge impact” a charitable initiative to engage people from around the world in philanthropy to benefit 5 charities including Save the Children. On September 15, TripAdvisor will launch a contest to give away $1,000,000. How it’s distributed will be determined by their community of travelers. Western Union Foundation

Save the Children and the Western Union Foundation have collaborated to provide access to education for children in Pakistan's Batagram district, where education infrastructure was badly affected by the 2005 earthquake. Through this collaboration with Western Union's Our World, Our Family program, Save the Children will construct permanent, ventilated pit latrines with hand-washing facilities at twelve schools in Batagram district as well as creating permanent water supplies at 8 schools. The Our World, Our Family program represents Western Union's commitment to be responsible corporate citizens with the focus on improving economic opportunity for many around the globe.

Verizon

Verizon and its employees provide support to Save the Children in a number of areas including employee giving and corporate matching gifts, especially in support of major disaster relief operations.  As a leader in global communications technology, Verizon also established an innovated text messaging donation program for Save the Children.   The program ran in the summer of 2008 and encouraged Verizon Wireless customers to donate to Save the Children’s relief efforts in China and Myanmar by text messaging a special code from their cell phone.  All costs for establishing and operating this program were covered by Verizon. This innovative use of technology is now being explored by Save the Children in other areas, including celebrity events, benefit concerts and more.
