Rewrite the Future is celebrating its second anniversary!
Welcome to our online campaign.
Launched two years ago, Rewrite the Future has helped millions of children in war zones and other conflict-affected areas gain access to and benefit from education. Read the latest press release.
43 million children were out of school in conflict-affected countries two years ago. Today, about 37 million children are denied a basic education. For these children in conflict, the progress we are making is too slow.
Caught in a cycle of poverty and war, it can seem as though the future has already been written for these children. But we can change that.
To promote global education, Actress America Ferrera has joined Save the Children as an Artist Ambassador. Read more.
Working together, Rewrite the Future already has improved the quality of education for 5.7 million children, including getting 815,000 children into school. We also have trained 25,000 teachers in the last year, and we are co-leading a Global Education Cluster for education in emergencies. Finally, we have seen U.S. basic education aid increased from $490 million to $694 million.
Hundreds of writers worldwide have joined Save the Children in demanding that all children have the opportunity to attend school.

Over the long run, education is integral to building peace and prosperity. With well-trained teachers and appropriate curricula, schools can leave a legacy for a generation of young people who will have skills for employment, an understanding of their rights, and an appreciation for the rights of others.
