One year ago Save the Children launched Rewrite the Future, our global campaign to secure quality education for the millions of children out of school due to war and armed conflict. See below for some of our key achievements.
What we have achieved so far:
- Save the Children is getting the job done. So far, 3.4 million children in more than 20 countries have benefited from better education through Rewrite the Future programs.
- We are increasing awareness. We have reached out to thousands of policy makers, journalists, non-governmental organizations, celebrities and members of the public.
- We are mobilizing public and private donors. Donors from Australia to the United States have proposed increased funding for education. Over the past year, nearly $600 million in new international assistance was committed from the UK and Dutch governments to support education for children affected by conflict.
- We are working with the humanitarian community to ensure education is a priority in the early stages of any emergency.
